Join us in-person!
common cathedral welcomes adults, high school and college students seeking regular volunteer service in all our programs. Students fulfilling community service requirements have designed programs of learning; adults and teens have created summer internships in our ministries. common cathedral provides training in spiritual friendships, homelessness advocacy, pastoral skills, setting boundaries, safety, visiting hospitals, and related subjects.
If you are interested in a formal relationship such as an internship/field placement or just want to be present during the week....All volunteer opportunities are welcome! please contact us for more information.
Groups are Welcome
We welcome churches, college groups, and organizations to worship with us on Sundays, and to bring lunch and share time with our community. Contact our office for more information. To schedule a visit, please email Sierra at sierra@commoncathedral.org.
Groups are also welcome to CityReach. A program that gives young people the opportunity to learn first hand about homelessness from people who have experienced it.
Consider remote support options!
Weekday lunch drop-off
Monday (in winter), Wednesday, & Friday we offer a light lunch that is provided by volunteers who sign up each week. They bring sandwiches, fruit, and granola bars to the program and help provide a meal to all present at the program. If you’re interested in this opportunity, follow this Sign-Up Genius link.

Dignity Cards
You’ll sometimes hear Rev. Mary say “It costs $0.35 to go to the bathroom in Boston.” This is the cost of a Munchkin at Dunkin’ and allows the purchaser to use the Customers Only Bathroom. Providing gift cards to our community can mean more than a donut or coffee, it could mean having a private space to use the restroom and wash up from being outside. Consider donating gift cards from places such as Dunkin’, Panera, or McDonald’s where restrooms are accessible to our community.
Knit for Our Community
You may knit for our ministry or one in your own town. Items you knit will be either given out at CityReach or on the street throughout the Winter.
Hats, scarves, mittens, and vests are most welcome. If you have favorite patterns feel free to use them! We have suggestions for a simple knit hat and scarf here.
Finished items can be sent to our office. It would be great if you would like to include a note to the person receiving your gift.
